We are happy to announce the results of the 2025 MapLibre Governing Board election and also welcome our newest Voting Members. A big thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s election process. Your engagement is what keeps MapLibre a strong, community-driven project.
Board Results
The following members have been elected to serve on the 2025 MapLibre Governing Board:
- Yuri Astrakhan (incumbent)
- Frank Elsinga (new)
- Stephanie May (new)
- Birk Skyum (incumbent)
- Haowen You (incumbent)
MapLibre Board Members 2025
🎉 We are delighted to welcome Frank Elsinga and Stephanie May as new members of the Board, along with incumbents Yuri Astrakhan, Birk Skyum, and Haowen You.
💐 We appreciate the participation of Stefan Karschti, who contested in this year’s election and continues to be an active member of our community.
🙏 Finally, we express our sincere gratitude to Luke Seelenbinder and Petr Pridal, who have generously volunteered their time and energy as Governing Board members for three terms. Their contributions have been invaluable in strengthening MapLibre’s foundation and growth.

- Total eligible voters (Voting Members): 141
- Ballots cast: 92
- Voter turnout: ~65% (highest since 2022)
- Seats available: 5 (out of 6 candidates)
- Election method: Conducted online using OpaVote, with ranked-choice voting (Meek STV).

🗳️ New Voting Members
As part of the 2025 Governing Board election process, we held a round of nominations to expand the Voting Members group. Voting Members are responsible for electing the Governing Board and voting on changes to the MapLibre Charter.
We’re pleased to welcome 19 new Voting Members this August and look forward to their contributions in shaping MapLibre’s future.
